Falling debris from an intercepted missile in Abu Dhabi injured five Indian nationals on Saturday, authorities said, as tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East conflict.

According to the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office, the injuries occurred after air defence systems successfully intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Iran. Officials said the injuries were minor.

Air raid sirens were also sounded across parts of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain amid fears of further missile attacks targeting US military bases in the region.

The latest incident comes just days after a similar strike on Thursday turned deadly. Two people including one Indian national were killed, while three others sustained injuries after missile debris fell in Abu Dhabi following another interception, authorities confirmed.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office, in a statement on X, said the deceased included individuals of Indian and Pakistani nationality, while the injured included Emirati, Jordanian and Indian nationals with injuries ranging from moderate to serious.

Authorities have urged residents to rely only on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumours.

The incidents come amid escalating hostilities in West Asia, with Iran launching missile and drone attacks targeting US and allied installations following strikes by Israel and the United States on Iranian targets.

The situation remains tense, with repeated interceptions and falling debris raising civilian safety concerns across the region.
