Man hailing from Navsari punched to death in US

A 59-year-old man from Gujarat’s Navsari was killed by a stranger on the street of Oklahoma, USA, on June 22.
Hemant Mistry, a businessman from Navsari’s Bilimora owned a motel in Oklahoma, US. According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, on June 22, around 10 pm, Mistry asked 41-year-old Richard Lewis, a stranger, to leave the property and move his stuff from his motel’s parking lot.
While doing so, Lewis punched Mistry, knocking him unconscious. Mistry was hospitalised and died a day later at 7.40 pm as a result of his injuries. Lewis was later found at a hotel in the 1900 block of S Meridian Avenue and arrested.
Two decades ago, the Mistry family settled in Oklohoma. Mistry owned over 120 motels in the city.
After the stranger punched Mistry, he suffered a brain haemorrhage. As he did not arrive home, his family members searched and found him passed out in the parking lot of the motel.
The doctors declared him brain-dead a day later.
Mistry’s family member, Prakash Mistry, a resident of Bilimora said, “We are shocked to receive the news of my cousin Hemant’s sudden death. As per Hemant’s wish, we will donate his organs and his last rites will also be performed in the US”.
