Harman Singh Kapoor, a London-based restaurateur who had faced controversy in the recent months after publicly promoting Rangrez, his restaurant as a non-halal restaurant, has now said that he plans to take legal action against the Metropolitan Police and the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan regarding his arrest in West London, as per reports.

Kapoor, in his post on social media said “Released after 24 exhausting hours in custody following an illegal arrest, and straight back to work because my family still depends on me.

I will be taking legal action against the Metropolitan Police and Mayor of London over what I believe was unfair and continuous discriminatory treatment.”

He alleged that he has been treated unfairly and also facing continuous discrimination, and intends to pursue legal action against both the Metropolitan Police and the Mayor of London. He urges supporters to back his business by dining, not by donating money online in GoFundMe.

Kapoor, who has been in headlines for this, says that his decision was linked to his sikh faith which permits jhatka meat while opposing the halal slaughter practices for religious reasons.

The restaurant, located on Fulham Palace Road, has been operating for nearly 16 years. Recently, Kapoor said he was thinking about closing the business after facing months of disputes, protests, and online criticism.

According to Kapoor, the controversy began after the restaurant displayed signs outside stating, “Proudly we don’t sell halal,” which allegedly led to harassment and backlash.

The tensions escalated further in March when Kapoor used social media to promote a “Non Halal Meetup,” encouraging supporters to gather outside the restaurant and record any incidents or disturbances.
