Karnataka Man Found Dismembered In UAE's Sharjah; Wife, Teenage Son Untraceable

A man from Karnataka's Udupi district was allegedly murdered in Sharjah in July, with his body later found dismembered and packed into two bags, according to his family. Details of the case emerged nearly two months later after relatives raised concerns over his disappearance.

Alwin Prakash Kunder, a native of Udupi, had been working at Sharjah Airport for around 14 years. He lived in the UAE with his wife, Tina Kunder, and their Class 10 son.

Following his death, Tina and their teenage son have reportedly become untraceable. Their current whereabouts remain unclear, and there is no confirmed information establishing any connection between them and the killing.

Body Found In Car Near Oman Route

According to Prakash's brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, the victim's remains were found inside a car parked along a route towards Oman.

Anil said the body had been cut into nine pieces and packed into two bags. The remains were subsequently identified as those of Prakash.

Sharjah authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing. The identity of the suspect or suspects and the motive have not been publicly established.

Family Raised Alarm After Unusual Message

Anil said he attempted to contact his brother around July 20, but Prakash did not answer the call. Instead, he sent a text message saying he was fine.

The response reportedly concerned the family because Prakash normally communicated through voice messages.

When Anil tried contacting him again about a week later and received no response, he asked Prakash's classmate Manohar, who was in Sharjah, to check on him.

Manohar visited the flat provided to Prakash by his employer. The watchman reportedly told him that Prakash had travelled to India. The company's HR department also initially informed the family that he had gone to India.

Anil, however, told the company that Prakash had not returned to India and requested that his whereabouts be verified.

A subsequent passport check reportedly indicated that Prakash was still in Sharjah, following which a missing-person complaint was filed.

Wife And Son Remain Untraceable

Following the discovery of Prakash's body, reports emerged that his wife Tina and their teenage son were also untraceable. Some reports have claimed they may have left Sharjah and possibly travelled to India.

However, their present whereabouts have not been independently confirmed.

There have also been reports raising suspicion about possible involvement of Tina in the killing. No confirmed information has established such a role, and the family has reportedly said it was unaware of any dispute between the couple.

Family Seeks Assistance From Udupi Authorities

After learning about the death, Anil met the Udupi Superintendent of Police and submitted a representation seeking assistance in the matter.

The family is awaiting completion of legal procedures in the UAE before Prakash's body can be brought back to India.

Udupi police are also awaiting official communication from Sharjah authorities regarding the murder investigation, the circumstances in which the body was discovered and the whereabouts of Prakash's wife and son.
