Indians lead in Schengen visa applications in Luxembourg

Luxembourg has registered a record number of Schengen visa applications, as per a report of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs’ activity 2024. Schengen media suggests Luxembourg received a record number of 30,677 Schengen visa applications.
This depicts a 173% increase compared to 2023, when the country received only 11,227 visa applications.
Indians lead the queue
As in previous years, Indian passport holders submitted the highest number of visa applications to Luxembourg and received the most approvals, as per the report.
According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, a total of 5,495 Schengen visas were granted to Indian nationals in 2024, making them the top group of foreign visitors to the country, stated Schengen media.
Indian citizens were the largest group of third-country nationals to visit Luxembourg this year, surpassing both Turkish and Chinese nationals.
Turkish citizens followed closely, with 3,373 visas granted in the same period.
The ministry noted that such a high number of applications reflects the growing appeal of Luxembourg as a study, work, and living destination.
According to Schengen news, data showed that Luxembourg received the highest number of applications at its consulate in New Delhi (4,058), followed by the consulate in Ankara, Turkey (3,299). The Luxembourg embassy in Beijing, China also saw a high number of applications – 1,951.
