Indian techie in Canada wants to move back to India, says he is ‘pretty unhappy’

A 25-year-old tech professional from Gurgaon, living in Canada, poured his heart out on the internet last week, claiming that he is ‘pretty unhappy’ in a foreign country.
Taking his rant to Reddit, titled ‘Moving back to India’, the user Competitive-Group-80 wrote, “I’m pretty unhappy with my life in Canada, we have a house, and I work a meh tech job, but I do not feel fulfilled.”
“I have visited India around 10 times since 2021, after not visiting for a decade. When I returned for the first time, it felt like I had gone back in time in a good way. All my memories of childhood came flooding back. The majority of my family also resides in India, including my sister,” he added.
He emphasised that India has its flaws, and so do the western countries.
The man conveyed a strong desire to return to India, even though his family is hesitant about the move. He’s thinking about purchasing property there, despite his parents’ lack of support. While he acknowledges India’s shortcomings, he is also openly critical of life in the West, believing that Indians are unlikely to find true happiness abroad, as per his post.
He envisions starting a small business in India and sustaining himself with his inheritance. He also intends to stay single, citing the complications and drama surrounding marriage in his family as a key reason for this choice.
Notably, after the post gained traction on the internet, the he later edited his post, writing, ‘Canada is great’, but Indians are best treated in India.
