Priya Saxena, a 28-year-old PHD student from India, is facing deportation from the United States despite completing two advanced degrees from US university, as per reports.
Saxena holds a doctorate in chemical and biological engineering and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
Saxena reportedly received a mail from US immigration, informing her that the visa will be revoked over minor traffic rule violations in 2021.
Notably, she received her most recent visa in 2022 which is valid until 2027, but the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has placed her on a deportation list, according to reports.
US District Judge Karen Schreier granted Saxena a temporary restraining order last month. It was extended for her to collect the degrees on May 10.
