A 60-year-old woman named Babblejit 'Bubbly' Kaur, a resident of Long Beach, US, for more than three decades, was detained by immigration authorities on December 1, 2025, during a scheduled biometrics appointment, according to details shared on a GoFundMe page set up by her family.

As per Long Beach Watchdog, the family moved to the US in 1994.

According to her fundraiser page, Kaur has been a part of the Long Beach community for over 30 years. Along with her husband, Singh, she ran Natraj Cuisine of India for more than 20 years, serving local residents and building long-standing relationships.

The page also states that she previously worked at a local Rite Aid store and had been trying to remain in the United States through legal means.

The page states that Kaur was taken into custody during what was described as a routine immigration appointment and is currently being held at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center. Her family has raised concerns on the fundraising page regarding the conditions at the detention facility.

According to the fundraiser, the money collected will be used to cover commissary expenses, phone usage, and legal defence costs, including representation and legal fees.

The family has also stated that any funds not required for Kaur’s case will be donated to organisations that support families facing similar immigration-related challenges.

Kaur’s family has appealed to the Long Beach community to share the fundraiser and offer support, describing her as a wife, mother, and grandmother with deep ties to the area.
