Indian-origin Ruby Dhalla, in race to be Canada PM, promises to deport every illegal immigrant

Indian-origin Canadian PM candidate from the Liberal Party of Canada, promised to ‘deport every illegal immigrant’ if she becomes the Prime Minister of Canada.

Notably, outgoing Canadian PM Justin Trudeau resigned from his post as PM last month amid mounting political pressure. Trudeau had noted that he will be in his position till the party finds a suitable candidate.

Joining the race for the PM, Dhalla, in a video on X, said, “There are over half a million illegal immigrants in Canada, this is unacceptable.”

“As the daughter of immigrant parents, I know first-hand that immigrants have helped build our great country, but we must clamp down on human trafficking and those that are here illegally,” she added.

“As your Prime Minister, I promise you, I will deport every illegal immigrant from Canada,” she vowed.

In the conclusion of the video, she said, “Canada’s comeback starts now.”

This follows Canada’s southern neighbour, US’s hard stance on the illegal immigration, as newly-elected President Donald Trump signed executive orders on his first day in office announcing mass deportations, sending US troops to the country’s southern border to prevent illegal crossings.
