Indian origin priest Arun Carasala shot dead in US suspect nabbed

An Indian-origin Catholic priest, Father Arun Carasala, was shot dead at clergy house in Kansas’ Seneca on Thursday. The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas confirmed his death on Facebook.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Fr Arul Carasala, pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Seneca. Fr Arul was a faithful priest who devoutly served our archdiocese for more than two decades,” read the Facebook post.

“Ordained in March 1994 in his home Diocese of Cuddapah, India, he ministered at Sts Peter and Paul for nearly 14 years and also served as dean of the Nemaha-Marshall deanery,” the post added.

The Catholic Church shared on Facebook that according to the Seneca Police Department, there is “no ongoing threat” to the community.

“A suspected shooter is reportedly in custody,” a post by Saints Peter and Paul Parish - Seneca, Ks read.

Archbishop Joseph F Naumann of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, wrote, “I am heartbroken to share the tragic news of the death of Fr Arul Carasala, who was fatally shot earlier today. This senseless act of violence has left us grieving the loss of a beloved priest, leader, and friend.”
