A 24-year-old man of Indian origin, Navroop Singh, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Isleworth Crown Court in the United Kingdom following his conviction for two separate and heinous crimes – attempted rape and the rape of a child, as per a report.

Singh was found guilty of several serious charges, including the rape of a minor, assault on a girl under 13, and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of October 13, 2024. Singh was reportedly sitting on a park bench, awaiting a potential victim. He was carrying an imitation firearm, which he had ordered and assembled, and used it to threaten the victim during an attempted rape.

While the investigation into this crime was ongoing, a child was tragically raped at a different park on October 23, 2024. Investigators immediately recognised a link between the two offenses.

Police and detectives launched a comprehensive investigation, utilising forensics, CCTV footage, and witness accounts to build a strong case against Singh. He was subsequently arrested on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

Acting Chief Superintendent Sean Lynch, who leads policing in the West Area, commended the victims and their families, stating, “I would like to commend the strength of the victim-survivors and their families and thank them for their unwavering bravery in reporting these awful incidents to us. Today’s conviction is testament to the officers’ thorough investigation, which has identified a violent sexual offender and undoubtedly prevented further harm.”
