Indian origin man sentenced to jail in UK for sexually assaulting two teenagers
An Indian-origin man in the UK was found guilty and sentenced toi nine year imprisonment for deceiving people about his age on social media and then raping two teenage girls, as per reports.
Himanshu Makwana, a 42-year-old, was reportedly arrested after an investigation by special detectives revealed that he was a predator targeting teenage girls on social media.
Makwana had allegedly created an account on Snapchat posing as 18 years old, misrepresenting his age to appear younger, in order to lure girls much younger than himself.
His first victim was 18 years old in 2019. After conversing with her for a few months, they decided to meet. When they met, Makwana drove her to an empty office block and sexually assaulted her inside the building, as per reports.
The incident was reported to the police at the time, but no suspect was identified.
In 2023, he reportedly repeated the offense. He deceived another girl, a 16-year-old minor, by posing as a 19-year-old on Snapchat.
He went to her school and waited for her to come out. After spotting her, he offered to help carry her books. The girl agreed, but he then locked her in his car, identified himself as ‘Samir’ (the identity he used on Snapchat), and drove to an isolated location where he sexually assaulted her, as per reports.
He was arrested in November 2023, just a day after the girl reported the assault.
DNA analysis linked him to the 2019 case, where the suspect had remained unidentified. He was then charged with both rapes, as per reports.
