A dramatic incident unfolded in the US’s Texas, where local police reportedly shot down an Indian-origin man who allegedly hit two officers with his vehicle on Apr 21.

48-year-old Sachin Sahoo, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, resided in San Antonio, Texas, and was chased by police in connection with an aggravated assault on his roommate, reported the media.

Police were initially called to a San Antonio locality on Apr 21 evening over a report.

Upon reaching there, they found a woman, 51, struck down by Sahoo’s vehicle who had fled the scene, according to reports.

Police officials shifted the woman to a hospital, where she required critical medical attention. A warrant was also issued against Sahoo.

Later, police were informed that the accused had returned to the initial spot. Over which the cops showed up at the scene, but were met with a fleeing Sahoo, who tried to squeeze through the police vehicles blocking his way and struck the two officers with his car while absconding, according to media reports.

Sahoo was reportedly shot at by one of the officers, killing him on the scene.

One of the two officers injured in this confrontation was also shifted to a hospital.

As per reports, Sahoo may also have been a naturalised US citizen. Further reports added that Sahoo’s spouse revealed that he had suffered from numerous mental conditions over the past many years.

Police have launched a thorough investigation in this case and are reportedly scrutinising the body cam footage for further details.
