Indian origin doctor in Canada convicted for drug fuelled abuse medical licence revoked

A prominent Indian-origin doctor has had her medical licence revoked in Canada after being entangled in a shocking sex scandal, with several patients alleging she assaulted them during drug-fuelled consultations at her clinic.

A panel of Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal found Dr Suman Khulbe, an Indian-origin family physician, guilty of sexual abuse of one person and engaging in “disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional conduct”.

As per the tribunal’s document, “Dr Khulbe disputes some of the facts surrounding the sexual abuse and other allegations of disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional conduct. More specifically,

she disputes that: (a) she improperly disclosed the personal health information of patients; (b) she inappropriately administered procaine, an anaesthetic, to Patient A, Patient B, Patient D and to herself; and © she failed to maintain appropriate boundaries with patients by hosting social gatherings, consuming alcohol or inappropriately administering medication or substances to patients or to herself.”

Moreover, she had a sexual relationship with one patient and ‘deep personal relationships’ with others. As per the panel, she hosted social gatherings with her patients at her clinic, where alcohol was consumed and procaine was administered. She administered procaine to herself and others both inside and outside of her clinic.

A gym trainer alleged that Khulbe performed deep tissue physical therapy with his boxers on and then with no clothing. During the session, “Dr Khulbe would do breathing exercises while she had her hands on his genitals.”

As per his testimony, “They began spending time outside of the treatment room. He said they kissed upstairs in the bedroom, and after that, the sexual acts accelerated. The sexual acts included Dr Khulbe performing oral sex on Patient A approximately 15 times, kissing, and manual stimulation. Some of these acts occurred in the treatment room and some in other parts of the house.”

Who is Dr Suman Khulbe?

Dr Khulbe said that she “was raised in an Indian home with traditional values”. She began her career as a family physician in 2001 and soon established a private clinic on Wingate Drive in Kanata.

Over the years, she expanded her practice to include therapies such as vein treatment, lipotherapy, PRP, and esthetics.

In 2018, she transitioned fully from family practice to an exclusive ‘executive practice’, offering holistic healthcare focused on sleep, nutrition, exercise, hormone therapy, and vitamins. Her private clients include CEOs, business owners, and national-level athletes.
