Indian-origin couple, daughter die in car crash in US, son survives after missing trip

A day of joy and new beginnings turned tragic for the Indian-origin Mani family in Texas after an accident on August 14 claimed the lives of three family members. The 14-year-old son has survived.

Three members of the family – Arvind Mani (45), his 40-year-old wife, Pradeepa Arvind, and their daughter Andril Arvind (17), residents of Leander, were on their way to the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD campus) to drop off Andril.

The car that Mani was driving north on US 281 crashed with a south-bound car driven by Jacinto Duran (31) with Yosilu Martinez as a passenger when his right rear tyre blew out and he lost control of the car, as per reports.

Passengers of both the cars were killed on the spot after the crash..

For no fault of theirs, Aravind, Pradeepa, and Andril lost their lives, survived by 14-year-old Adiryan Arvind, according to GoFundMe, a fundraising website.

Adiryan who was unable to join the trip with his family to drop off his sister at the university, just started 9th grade.

The website raised $7,58,901 out of the $2,50,000 goal for Adiryan.
