Indian-origin businessman killed in Canada for questioning man urinating on his car

A 55-year-old Indian-origin businessman, Arvi Singh Sagoo, died on October 24 after being attacked by a stranger he questioned for peeing on his car in Edmonton, Canada.
The incident took place on October 19 at approximately 2.20 am, according to Edmonton police.
As per local news reports, Sagoo was out for dinner with his girlfriend on October 19. Later, when they were heading back towards their car in the early morning hours, they found a trail of people peeing on their car.
When asked about what they were doing, one of them replied, “Whatever I want,” and punched him. Sagoo fell on the ground while his girlfriend called the cops.
“Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious 55-year-old man. The man was treated and transported to the hospital by EMS with life-threatening injuries,” said Edmonton police.
Kyle Papin, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Sagoo succumbed to his injuries on October 24. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office.
As per the police officials, the attacker and victim were not known to each other.
Papin’s next court appearance will be on November 4, 2025.
