A tech professional from Kerala shared his experiences on social media, comparing his time working under an Indian manager, which he dubbed 'the worst,' to his previous roles under Canadian or American female managers at a Canadian company.

Reflecting on his previous role, the techie praised his former manager, a Canadian woman. “She never overloaded us with work and always made sure to listen to our opinions,” he wrote. He recalled her open communication about deadlines and ability to foster a comfortable work environment.

“She’d go the extra mile, like giving us Amazon gift cards and even sending us t-shirts,” he shared. This nurturing approach motivated him to willingly put in extra hours, stating, “I was even happy to work an extra hour or two sometimes because of her.”

“She was more than just a manager; she was like an elder sister to me,” he said, adding that he still keeps her contact but misses having such a caring mentor around.

Here begins an honest rant

However, his new job under an Indian manager has been a starkly different experience. “It’s just the first week of my new job, and I can already see the power play with my new Indian manager,” he expressed. “She’s so egoistic, constantly looking down on us, never showing any respect, and always bossing us around,” he wrote.

He also covinced himself to resign from his job after receiving first salary.

He concluded his post with a broader question to the online community of 'developersIndia', “Is it common for Indian managers to be this difficult?”

The post has sparked a discussion online, with many users seconding with the post.

Calling Indian managers 'desi idiots', a user wrote, "The managers in the west believe in working WITH you while these desi idiots on their high horses think you work FOR them and want to establish dominance and hierarchy.

It comes from a place of extreme insecurity. Some of these managers would also be in the same company for long periods and need to play politics on a daily basis to secure their jobs."

Another user commented, "Indian managers who migrated to the US on onsite are the worst type of manager you could get."
