An Indian woman influencer in the US has expressed her disappointment after she felt ‘excluded’ during an event at her workplace, where only non-vegetarian options were available for lunch.
Taking her ordeal to Instagram, Runjhun Misra – better known by her username ‘The Wicked Vegetarian’– said that she was excited when her workplace informed employees not to bring lunch, as food would be provided in the office the following day. However, during lunchtime, Misra was angry and disappointed to learn that there was not a single vegetarian option available for her.
“Raise your hand if you’ve ever gone hungry at a work event,” the San Francisco-based influencer said in her video, before raising her hand.
She went on to rant, “So yesterday I was told ‘Don’t bring lunch because we are providing lunch for everyone’. And I was so excited.”
Misra said that there were 60 different varieties of sandwiches, even with thoughtful inclusion of kosher, gluten-free and halal, but vegetarian options were nowhere to be seen.
She was also told to make her vegetarian sandwich by taking out non-veg layers from a sandwich and adding veggies to it. “It makes vomit,” she said.
“I walked out so disappointed that they felt bad and offered to go grab me something after an hour but by then I had already ordered myself lunch because I was so hangry,” wrote Misra in the caption.
