A US-based Indian entrepreneur survived an ugly crash on a highway, which he attributes to his smartwatch which detected the accident and called the emergency services.
Kuldeep Dhankar, a top official at a San Francisco-based software engineering firm ‘Last9’, was involved in an accident that he claims took place on Interstate 5 near Lathrop, California, on Sunday.
Dhankar added in his post that they were “perfectly safe” after the accident.
The post on X made by Dhankar reads, “Got rear ended by a car while we were at standstill in traffic, on the I-5 yesterday. the car behind was probably a total loss. (we are perfectly safe)
Apple watch detected that we were in a crash and auto called 911 and there was an officer on the scene with in minutes. we were able to leave in 30 minutes and got to our destination safe.”
Replying to a concerned user, Dhankar wrote, “(we are) perfectly fine. we were in a ford expedition. it shrugged the impact off. we checked in the other party. got them water etc and once the officer cleared us, resumed journey.”
Asked for the identification of the two people seen holding hands in the picture shared by Dhankar, he replies, “that is the other party. kids really. poor things were really shaken.”
He replies to another user who exclaimed how Dhankar and his passenger were safe, saying, “well enough that sahil found a great Italian restaurant in Bakersfield and proceeded to to demolish an American sized serving of Pasta.”
