Indian diaspora gets highest median wages in Germany, says German Economic Institute

The Indian diaspora in Germany, as of 2024, had the highest median wages in the country, whereas Germans are in 4th position after Americans and Irish people, the German Economic Institute found.
The data from the German Economic Institute shows that the Indian professional working in different sectors of Germany gets the highest median salary in the country as of 2024.
According to the study, based on the Federal Employment Agency, Indian working professionals who are working as full-time employees get the highest median salary in comparison with people from other countries.
The data shows that Indians earn €5,393 ($6,317) vs €4,177 ($4,893) for Germans, €3,204 ($3,753) for foreign nationals overall. After the Indians, Austrians earned (€5,322), then Americans (€5,307), and the Irish (€5,233) the most.
The report found that Indians are higher because most are working in science, tech, engineering, and math fields (STEM). The number of Indians working in STEM grew nine times from 2012 to more than 32,800. About 33% of full-time Indian workers who are 25 to 44 work in STEM, a much larger proportion than for other groups.
The above data clearly shows that Germany's economy is highly dependent on international talent. It somehow also shows brain drain of Indians, as many are working in science and tech fields which India also needs.
