Indian-Canadians hold nationwide rallies in solidarity with Hindus in Canada, Bangladesh

Indians in Canada have been organising protest rallies across Canada against the alarming rise of ‘Hinduphobia and violent attacks on Hindu temples across Canada during the Diwali weekend’.
The leaders of the Hindu minority community in Canada have strongly criticised the inadequate response of authorities to the assault on Hindu worshippers at Brampton’s Hindu Sabha temple. A protest by Khalistani extremists near the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton escalated into violence on November 3, with attendees of the temple attacked.
“Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown has failed the Hindu community once again. His newly passed by-law, which purports to protect places of worship from raucous protesters, is a mere façade designed to appease Khalistani extremists under the guise of neutrality,” according to CoHNA (Coalition of Hindus of North America).
“On November 20, Brampton City Council passed the by-law, with much publicity and fanfare — and a glaring loophole: protests against foreign governments are still allowed near a place of worship,” the press release added.
The Hindu community has demanded real action and equal treatment, instead of ‘performative politics’.
Indian-Americans in Silicon Valley also gathered for a solidarity rally at Milpitas City Hall to condemn violence against Hindus in Canada and Bangladesh.
Community leaders urged US leaders to denounce the attacks, protect human rights, and hold the respective governments accountable for ensuring the safety of Hindu minorities.
The protestors reportedly chanted “Stop Khalistani terrorism, protect Canadian-Hindus” and “Stop Islamist terrorism, protect Bangladeshi Hindus”.
