India becomes leading country of origin for international students in US

The US dreams of Indians are taking of, as a total of 3,31,602 international students from India enrolled in higher education institutions in 2023-24. A 23.3% change from the previous year.
An all-time high number of 11,26,690 international students enrolled at US higher education institutions or were on Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the 2023-24 academic year, according to the Open Doors Report.
Students from India accounted for the highest number of international students with 29%, followed by China with 25% of the total international student population of 1.12 million from more than 210 countries during 2023-24.
Students from India and China made up 54% of international students in the US.
The least students were from places including Brazil, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Taiwan and Canada.
Indian student numbers increased by 23% to, while Bangladesh topped with 26%, followed by Colombia (11%), Ghana (45%), Iran (15%), Nepal (11%), Nigeria (14%), and Pakistan (8%).
India enrollments increased primarily at the graduate (196,567- 19%) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) academic levels (97,556- 41%).
