Majoti Sahil Mohamed Hussein, a 22-year-old Indian national who allegedly fought for the Russian military, was reportedly captured by Ukrainian forces. As per reports, Hussein who belongs to Morbi in Gujarat, surrendered to the 63rd Mechanised Brigade after just three days on the battlefield.

In a viral video, Majothi shared that he came to Russia to study at a university, and at some point, was sentenced to seven years in a Russian prison on drug-related charges.

He signed a contract with the Russian military to avoid further punishment and, according to him, escape from Russia.

He shared that he spent 16 days at the training area, where he was taught only how to shoot an assault rifle and throw F1 grenades.

On October 1, Majothi was sent on his first combat mission, where he spent three days. After a conflict with his commander, he told him that he is tired and hurt. The commander then took his radio and left him there. After his team left, he put down his assault rifle and surrendered to Ukrainian troops saying, “I don’t want to fight, I need help.”

He also said in the video that he didn’t want to go back to Russia as “there’s no truth there. I’d rather serve time in prison here. And if possible, please send me home to India,” Majothi said.
