In a shocking update emerging from the two-year-long Russia-Ukraine war, a youth from Gujarat’s Surat is reportedly found to have lost his life in the war-torn country.
23-year-old Hemil Mangukiya had gone to Russia for employment.
12 such youngsters seeking jobs as security helpers, including Mangukiya, were reportedly flown to Russia through an agent.
Many Indians have migrated to Russia to work under this profile but were reportedly forced to fight the country’s war against Ukraine.
Most of these workers were from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Ministry of external affairs reacted to this, “The Indian Embassy is in constant contact with the Russian authorities for the early release of the citizens stranded in Russia. Some Indian nationals have signed contracts to work as ‘helpers’ in the Russian army.”
Pleas to bring back Indians from Russia
AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Feb 21 urged prime minister Narendra Modi and external affairs minister S Jaishankar to take steps to bring back the 12 Indians who were reportedly forced to fight in Ukraine alongside the Russian Army.
The Hyderabad MP said the PM and the EAM should take up the issue with Russia and bring the youth safely to India as their families are worried over their safety.
He claimed these unemployed youth who had gone to Russia to work as security personnel at buildings were cheated and taken to the war front.
Owaisi told mediapersons that they included two youth from Telangana, three from Karnataka, two from Kashmir and one each from Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
He said that after the family members of some of these youth met him, he wrote to Jaishankar and the Indian Ambassador in Russia.
Owaisi claimed that the three agents cheated the unemployed youth by sending them to Russia to fight against Ukraine.
Faisal Khan, one of the agents, is in Dubai while Sufiyan and Puja are from Mumbai. Ramesh and Moin are Indian agents in Russia, Owaisi claimed.
Owaisi said the youth sent a video showing how they were pushed on the war front and were fired upon. They also claimed that one of them was killed in the attack, Owaisi said.
