A Gujarati woman was caught shoplifting at a Target store in the US earlier this year, as per a viral bodycam video circulated on September 4.

In the clip dated January 15, 2025, the woman can be seen sobbing and gasping while the police officers tried to have a word with her after she was caught red-handed shoplifting.

As she continued to gasp and struggled for breath, the officer asked her to take a deep breath, to be able to talk to her.

When asked about her language preference, she said that her English is “not very good” and her first language is “Gujarati”.

While being questioned, the store staff presented officers with CCTV footage showing the woman pushing a cart full of goods past the checkout without paying.

“So that’s her. So she just put everything in the cart and then just walked straight out,” the officer said.

While being questioned, the woman disclosed that she held a Washington-issued driver’s licence. Store employees mentioned she was a frequent customer, though this was the first instance in which she was caught shoplifting.

The officer asked the woman, “Are you able to tell us why we’re here tonight? What happened? Were you going to take these things and then resell them for money?”. She replied, “Some of it.”

She was made to sign something, and the officer said, “So, we’re letting you go for today, and then you’re going to get something in the mail. That’s where we’re at. Whenever the court sends it out.”

Notably, a body cam video went viral of an Indian woman who was accused of stealing ₹1.1 lakh of merchandise from a Target store in Illinois.
