Gujarati man tries to illegally enter US, dies in Nicaragua

A man from Prantij in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, who attempted to illegally enter the United States with his wife and child, died en route the infamous 'donkey route' for lack of medication. 

Following his death, it was found that his wife and child were stranded in Nicaragua. It also came to light that the young man had sold his land and handed over more than ₹1 crore to agents.

The man, named Dilip Patel, a resident of Moyad village in Prantij taluka, had sought the help of agents to illegally enter the US with his wife and child. 

As per available information, around 1.5 months ago, an agent arranged for Patel to travel from Nicaragua to the US. Subsequently, Patel left with his wife and child. However, on reaching Nicaragua, his health deteriorated, and he was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

However, due to the unavailability of diabetes medication at the hospital, Patel slipped into a coma and passed away during treatment. 

Following his death, it was found that his wife and child were stranded in Nicaragua. The deceased’s family is now seeking help from the Indian government. Meanwhile, the agents are pressuring the deceased's mother to not file a police complaint, it has been found.
