In another arrest made in the massive Delhi drug bust amounting to over ₹5,000 crore, an Indian-origin man residing in the UK has been held from Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport by a Delhi police team.
40-year-old Jitendra Singh, alias Jassi, said to be a key operative of this cartel, resided in the UK but was on a visit to India to oversee their group’s operations post the arrests of four of its members.
Reports suggest that Jassi has been living in the UK for the last 17 years and also possesses a Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) there. Upon his arrest in Amritsar, the police reportedly found that he was attempting to flee to London.
The Delhi Police seized this consignment, deemed to be the biggest drug bust ever in the national capital, on October 2. The police department landed upon cocaine and marijuana worth more than ₹5,600 crore.
This drug consignment was discovered during a raid in South Delhi’s Mahipalpur, leading to the arrest of four men who are believed to be part of the international drug smuggling ring.
The police operation, carried out by the Special Cell, uncovered this enormous stash of cocaine.
Notably, several allegations have been levelled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing a direct connection between the perpetrators in this case and the Congress party.
Placing serious allegations, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi on October 3 said that Tushar Goyal, the main accused in this massive drug bust, is the chief of the RTI cell of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC).
The BJP spokesperson also showed Goyal’s appointment letter and claimed that it has the names of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
