Canadian police arrest ‘most wanted’ armed-robbery Indian origin convict Nicholas Singh in Toronto

Canadian authorities have arrested 23-year-old Nicholas Singh, an Indian-origin man who had been listed among the country’s ‘most wanted’ after breaching his statutory release in May 2024, as per reports. Singh had been evading law enforcement for nearly 18 months and was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant.
As per reports, Toronto Police located Singh late Friday night in the Bathurst-Dupont area around 11.20 pm local time. Officers reportedly found him in possession of a firearm despite a previous court order that prohibited him from owning or carrying weapons. A firearm, an extended magazine and ammunition were said to have been recovered from the vehicle before Singh was taken into custody without resistance.
Singh is currently serving a sentence of five years, five months and 10 days. Following his arrest, he now faces several new firearm-related charges. These reportedly include possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a valid licence, possession of a firearm without proper authorisation, possession of a prohibited device, occupying a vehicle with a firearm, carrying a loaded regulated firearm and possessing a weapon with its serial number tampered with.
The arrest brings an end to the nearly two-year manhunt and highlights the concerns surrounding individuals who remain unlawfully at large. Authorities have reportedly emphasised the need for strict monitoring of high-risk offenders to ensure public safety.
Singh had earlier been featured in an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) appeal issued in August 2025, which underscored the ongoing efforts to track him after his release. Police have confirmed that he was apprehended safely and stated that investigations into the firearm-related offences are continuing.
