Canada’s ‘Super Visa’ applications for sponsoring Parents-Grandparents to reopen

Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced the reopening of applications for the ‘Super Visa’ on May 21.
This move has allowed 35,700 Canadian sponsors to submit applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP).
More than 20,500 visas will be approved, majorly benefiting the Indian diaspora residing in Canada.
The department will respond to the Super Visa applications within two weeks. Applications from sponsors who submitted their forms in 2020 will be invited.
Benefits under Canada’s Super Visa
As per the official notification, Super Visa holders can reside in Canada for up to 5 years. Notably, this visa provides multiple entry facilities for elderly family members for up to 10 years.
Sponsors must be Canadian citizens, Permanent Resident (PR), or registered Indians, and shall present the necessary documents for the same. Adopted children can also sponsor their parents and grandparents.
It is not necessary to provide additional proof of increased income beyond the Indian state certificate for registered Indians.
The sponsor must possess and demonstrate financial stability based on their specified criteria.
Parents and grandparents shall also possess valid health insurance from a certified provider.
