Australian universities ban Indian students from Gujarat, five other states: Report

Amid US President Donald Trump’s stringent policies towards international students, now the Australian universities have reportedly banned Indian students.

This move comes after the heightened visa fraud and misuse of the education system. 

According to reports, Australian universities imposed stricter restrictions on Indian students from Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir. 

Authorities flagged a surge in non-genuine applicants using student visas as a backdoor to migration rather than education, as per reports.

Australian officials reportedly raised concerns that their system of international education might have been compromised. 

The Department of Home Affairs and universities are closely collaborating to streamline the student visa application process, as per reports.
