Amdavadi takes work rant online claims US team treated Indian colleagues as dumping ground

An Ahmedabad man claimed on social media that while he was living and working in the US, his American colleagues treated Indian co-workers like their “dumping ground”.

For Americans, a typical workday meant handing tasks over to the India team, sitting through “pointless meetings,” relaxing, and then logging off, he said.

Consequently, all the dull, thankless, and urgent work ended up being pushed onto the India team.

The viral post read, “My US colleagues treated the India team like their personal task dumping ground. Boring work? -India team, Urgent work?- India team, Thankless work? -India team. Their work day was then basically, send work to the India team, have useless meetings, chill, and log off.”

His post garnered millions of views and reactions from netizens.

One user commented, “All IT folks in my society keep telling me the same thing. Apparently, even Indians working from onsite do the same with the team in India & just review PR.”

Another user agreed, “Yes, the same thing happens in my company too. The problem is that people in India don’t complain. People should start giving back to the US teams. If they are paid more, then they should work more.”

While a user commented, “Don’t mean to disrespect, but to be honest, they pay Indians for the same. No one is forcing anyone to work for them.”

Another wrote, “What else did you think you were for?”

After spending a decade in the US, Kapil Bhatt has returned to India and is currently living in Ahmedabad.

Bhatt was a senior data science manager at California-based Biotechnology Research company Genentech for six years.
