In a third racial attack on Indians in Ireland this month, a six-year-old Indian girl was assaulted brutally on Monday in Waterford, Ireland, according to local media reports.

Nia Naveen, daughter of Anupa Achuthan and KS Naveen from Kerala, was reportedly punched in the face, hit in private parts with a bicycle, punched on the neck.

The mother told the Irish Mirror that they said the ‘F-word’ and “dirty Indian go back to your country” to the six-year-old.

This pattern followed the racial attacks on Indians in July and August.

As per Anupa, her daughter was playing outside her home in the Kilbarry area of Waterford City on Monday.

When Anupa was feeding her 10-month-old child, Nia insisted on going out to play around 7.30 pm.

After some time, she returned and as Anupa told local media, “She was very upset, she started crying. She couldn’t even talk; she was so scared."

Nia was assaulted by a group of several boys between 12 and 14, including a girl. One of the boys even hit her on the private parts, punched her and twisted her hair.

“I feel so sad for her. I could not protect her. I never expected that such an incident would happen. I thought she would be safe here,” Anupa told the local daily.

Notably, the Indian family has been living in Ireland for eight years, and recently became Irish citizens.

As per reports, Irish police are now carrying out a criminal investigation into this racial attack.
