21 Indians have been arrested by local authorities in Sri Lanka for violating the tourist visa norms and running a business related to computer operations.
According to preliminary details, a raid was conducted by the police at a house in Negombo, a city around 37 km north of the Sri Lankan capital.
The accused are reportedly suspected of having been operating an online marketing centre.
Officials state that this house was rented out.
The accused have been shifted to a detention centre near Colombo. They will be deported to India after the local authorities conclude their investigation, say reports.
The type of business these Indians were engaged in has not yet been publicly disclosed.
This group arrived in Sri Lanka in February and March of this year on tourist visas.
According to Sri Lankan regulations, people arriving in the country on a tourist visa cannot engage in any kind of business or employment operations.
