Canada Halifax Sikh woman dead body

The body of a Sikh teenager was recovered on Saturday from a walk-in oven at a Walmart store based in Canada’s Halifax.

Local police are yet to identify the 19-year-old woman, but a local organisation ‘Maritime Sikh Society’ has reportedly confirmed to a local media house that the deceased was part of their community.

Other media reports stated that the woman had recently shifted to Canada, and was employed at the bakery department of the Walmart store located on the city Mumford road.

In a media statement, Halifax Regional Police stated, “On October 19 at approximately 9.30 pm police were called to a sudden death at Walmart located at 6990 Mumford Road. A 19-year-old woman employed at the store was found deceased.”

The statement further read, “Investigators are working closely with Occupational Health and Safety and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service to determine the cause and manner of death.”

In another update, the police department stated, “Halifax Regional Police continue to investigate the sudden death of a 19-year-old woman. The woman, who was an employee of the store, was located in a large walk-in oven belonging to the store’s bakery department.”

Local media has reported that the store has remained closed since the night of the accident.

Walmart Canada has reportedly released a statement saying that they are heartbroken and “their thoughts are with the woman’s family”.

Local police mentioned that “It is important to note that the investigation has not yet reached a point where the cause and manner of death have been confirmed.”

The police urged the public to be “mindful of sharing speculative information on social media”. It also spread awareness regarding the impacts that speculation could have on the family, colleagues and loved ones of the woman.
