A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing two students at Kingsbury High School in northwest London, leaving the victims, aged 12 and 13, in serious condition in hospital.

Police were called to the school in Brent at around 12:40 pm on Tuesday following reports of a stabbing, and officers later detained the teenager and recovered a suspected weapon.

Due to the circumstances of the case, London’s Counter-Terrorism Policing unit has taken the lead in the investigation, although authorities have not formally classified the incident as a terrorist attack and are keeping an open mind about the motive.

Some witness accounts suggest the suspect may have shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack, prompting the involvement of specialist detectives, but investigators continue to examine all possibilities as they work to establish what prompted the violent incident.

Senior officials, including London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan and national leaders, have reportedly expressed sympathy for the injured pupils and urged anyone with information to assist the inquiry.
