The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has approved a ₹4.86 crore project to replace ageing machinery at two Bodakdev water distribution stations and improve water pressure in the ward.

New Machinery at Two Water Distribution Stations

The project covers the Bodakdev ADB and Bodakdev Trilok water distribution stations, where residents have repeatedly complained about inadequate water pressure in several areas.

The existing electrical and mechanical machinery at both stations has deteriorated with prolonged use, reducing its operational capacity. The equipment was installed during the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) era.

The AMC Water Supply and Sewerage Committee has approved a proposal to remove the old machinery and install new equipment, along with the required civil works and SITC (Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning).

Project Cost Estimated at ₹4.94 Crore

The estimated cost of removing the old equipment and installing the replacement machinery at both stations is ₹4.94 crore.

As part of the project, the contractor will buy back the old machinery and pay ₹7.50 lakh to the AMC. After adjusting this amount, the corporation's net expenditure on the project will be more than ₹4.86 crore.

AMC Aims to Improve Water Pressure

The replacement is intended to restore the efficiency of both distribution stations and ensure adequate water supply and pressure across their respective command areas.

Water Supply and Sewerage Committee Chairman Dharmashi Desai said the machinery had lost efficiency and capacity due to wear and tear, contributing to low-pressure complaints in parts of Bodakdev.

The AMC expects the problem to ease once the new machinery is installed and commissioned.
