Navrangpura police registered a case on Friday against a 36-year-old man from Visnagar for allegedly stalking a 30-year-old woman, issuing death threats, and threatening to leak her personal data.

The accused, identified as Amar Kumar Joshi, allegedly targeted the complainant and her family through relentless phone calls between July 26 and August 21. Following a formal complaint filed by the victim on Thursday, police booked Joshi under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Systematic Harassment and Threats

The complainant alleged that Joshi repeatedly called the her, hurling verbal abuse and threatening to kill her if she resisted his demands. The harassment escalated when the accused allegedly threatened to misuse sensitive personal data in his possession to damage her reputation.

Investigators revealed that Joshi expanded his intimidation campaign to the victim's close circle, calling her fiancé, Hardik Rathod, as well as several family members, subjecting them to daily verbal abuse over the phone.

Police Investigation Underway

The victim reported that the daily barrage of threatening phone calls caused her severe mental distress, prompting her to approach the authorities for protection.

Navrangpura police officers have initiated a technical analysis of call detail records and digital communications between the accused, the victim, and her family. A team is working to locate Joshi in Mehsana district as the investigation continues.
