Three Women Injured After 15-Year-Old Government House Collapses in Navsari Village

Three women were injured after a 15-year-old government housing unit collapsed in Pera village of Navsari district following heavy rainfall early on Saturday. Eight members of a labourer's family were trapped under the debris before being rescued by villagers.

According to local sources, Maheshbhai Bhikhabhai Rathod, who earns a living through daily wage labour, was inside the government house with his family when the structure suddenly collapsed during heavy rain, triggering panic in the area.

Villagers Rush to Rescue

Pera village sarpanch Ravibhai Narendrabhai Vashi, along with local residents, immediately launched a rescue operation and pulled all eight family members out from the rubble.

Three women sustained injuries and were shifted to Navsari Civil Hospital for treatment. They were identified as:

• Kantaben Bhikhabhai Rathod (67), who suffered a leg fracture.
• Kavitaben Maheshbhai Rathod (33), who sustained a waist fracture.
• Vasu Bhikhabhai Rathod (42), who suffered a head injury.

The remaining five family members, including Maheshbhai Rathod, escaped with minor or no injuries.

Residents Raise Concerns Over Dilapidated Government Houses

Residents alleged that ageing government housing units frequently develop structural problems during the monsoon, leading to damage and risking lives. They claimed that despite repeated incidents over the years, many old government houses have not undergone renovation or major repairs, prompting resentment among affected families.
