Yogi Adityanath Claims 1.27 Crore Hindu Voters Missing From UP Electoral Rolls, Urges BJP Workers to Act

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged BJP workers to remain vigilant during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, claiming that 1.27 crore Hindu voters are missing from the state's voter lists.

Addressing the BJP state executive committee meeting on Friday, Adityanath called on party workers to coordinate with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and ensure that all eligible voters are included in the electoral rolls.

He claimed that the alleged exclusions were affecting the BJP's position in 28 urban local body constituencies.

Yogi Adityanath Questions UP's Voter Numbers

Citing population figures, Adityanath argued that Uttar Pradesh should have more than 16 crore voters, compared with its current electorate of approximately 13 crore.

He also claimed that 66 lakh people listed in panchayat electoral rolls were missing from Assembly constituency voter lists.

According to the Chief Minister, the names of another 55 lakh beneficiaries of government welfare schemes were absent from the electoral rolls. He also flagged the alleged exclusion of around 4.5 lakh young people aged 18-19.

Adityanath expressed concern that only four lakh voters had been added to the state's electoral rolls during the previous SIR exercise.

BJP Leaders Asked to Monitor SIR Exercise

The Chief Minister instructed BJP workers to maintain regular coordination with BLOs and review the revision process to ensure that eligible voters were not left out.

MPs, MLAs and party office-bearers have also been assigned the responsibility of ensuring that Hindu voters are included in the electoral rolls.

This is not the first time Adityanath has raised concerns over the alleged exclusion of Hindu voters. He has previously urged party workers to check voter lists and ensure that eligible supporters are registered.

Over 2.04 Crore Names Deleted From UP Electoral Rolls

The concerns come against the backdrop of large-scale changes to Uttar Pradesh's electoral rolls following the SIR exercise.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), more than 2.04 crore voters were removed from the state's electoral rolls. The deletions were concentrated largely in urban areas, with women accounting for a higher proportion of those removed.

At the same time, more than 84 lakh new voters were added to the lists.

The final electorate in Uttar Pradesh stood at 13,39,84,792, according to the ECI data.
