In the latest World Happiness Report, Finland has retained its position as the world’s happiest country for the seventh consecutive year. The report, which ranks countries based on factors such as GDP, life expectancy, social support, personal freedom, and the level of corruption, has revealed interesting rankings of the happiest nations globally.

Finland continues to stand out due to its robust education system, exceptional healthcare services, and stunning natural beauty. Following closely behind Finland, Denmark secures the second position, with its high standard of living, social equality, and the Danish concept of ‘hygge’, which emphasises comfort and contentment. Iceland ranks third, known for its close-knit communities and low crime rates.

Other countries in the top rankings include Sweden on 4th position, recognised for its strong social services and environmentally conscious policies, and Israel on 5th, celebrated for its innovation and healthcare system. The Netherlands ranks 6th due to its emphasis on work-life balance and social security. Norway on 7th, with its well-developed welfare system and abundant natural resources, also ranks high on the list of happiest nations.

Switzerland comes in 8th, thanks to its economic stability, excellent healthcare services, and beautiful landscapes. Luxembourg ranks 9th with its high income levels, prosperity, and safe environment, while New Zealand completes the top 10, known for its peaceful lifestyle, breathtaking natural beauty, and a strong sense of community.

In contrast to the top 10 happiest countries, Pakistan is ranked 108th in the report, ahead of India, which stands at 126th place out of 143 nations.

Despite Pakistan’s relatively higher rank compared to India, the United Nations Survey Agency has raised concerns over the outdated data regarding Pakistan. They have stated that the latest data on Pakistan is unavailable. The report suggests that Pakistan needs to take significant steps to improve social support, quality of life, and economic stability in order to enhance its citizens’ happiness.

India, ranked 126th, is urged to focus on improving similar factors such as social services, economic conditions, and public safety to ensure better living standards for its population.

The World Happiness Report highlights the ongoing efforts of countries that prioritise the well-being of their citizens through strong social systems, improved healthcare, and high standards of living, setting examples for others to follow. As countries like Finland continue to lead, it serves as a reminder of the importance of comprehensive policies aimed at creating happy and healthy societies.
