Woman finds lizard's tail in ice-cream cone in Ahmedabad, shop sealed

A distressing incident occurred in Ahmedabad's Maninagar area on Wednesday when a woman named Bhavika Tilwani discovered a lizard's tail in a Havmor Happy Cone ice cream purchased from Mahalaxmi Corner, reportedly an unlicensed parlour.

After consuming part of the cone, she experienced severe vomiting and was hospitalized at L G Hospital.

The Amdavad  Municipal Corporation (AMC) responded promptly by sealing the parlour and imposing a fine on Havmor Ice Cream Pvt Ltd, whose Naroda GIDC factory produced the contaminated product, as per reports. AMC's health department collected samples for testing and ordered a recall of the entire affected batch.

Havmor issued a public statement committing to a full investigation and reaffirming their adherence to stringent quality standards. Dr. Bhavin Joshi, AMC's additional health officer, confirmed the incident was initially reported via media, prompting swift regulatory action.

This incident has raised concerns about food safety and hygiene standards in the city.
