Parties and electoral bonds: Money matters of world’s largest democracy
BJP topped the list, TMC was the distant second

With the Election Commission of India (ECI) uploading the electoral bond data provided by the State Bank of India (SBI) ‘as is’, the numbers, in thousands of crores, painted the picture of who funds who, in the largest democracy of the world.
The list, divided into two parts, revealed the electoral bonds purchased by different entities, and the political parties encashing these bonds, by date.
It contains the data from Apr 2019 to Jan 2024.
BJP received over 47%
The highest funds were received by the ruling party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), amounting to ₹6,060 cr. This would translate to BJP receiving 47.46% of the total amount.
The distant second was received by the All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC), which received ₹1,609.5 cr (12.60% share), and at third place, stood Indian National Congress (INC) at ₹1,421.80 cr with 11.13% of the total amount received.

Companies behind bonds
On the other hand, the firms that purchased the most electoral bonds were Future Gaming and Hotel Services Pvt Ltd, based out of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, owned by Santiago Martin.
The firm purchased electoral bonds worth ₹1,208 cr.
On the second spot, came Hyderabad’s Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd, an engineering and construction firm owned by PV Krishna Reddy. The firm purchased electoral bonds worth ₹821 cr.
The third was Qwik Supply Chain Pvt Ltd, a logistics company based out of Mumbai, with bonds worth ₹410 cr.
