Vijay Rupani, Nirmala Sitharaman appointed as central observers to elect Maha Legislative leader

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Parliamentary Board has appointed Vijay Rupani, former chief minister of Gujarat, and Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman as central observers for the election of the leader of the party’s legislative assembly in Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra Assembly election results, declared on November 23, saw the Mahayuti alliance achieve a massive victory. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats in the 288-member Assembly, while its allies—the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, and the NCP, led by Ajit Pawar—won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
Eknath Shinde had gone to his native village in Satara on Friday and returned to Mumbai on Sunday.
Addressing media persons in his native village, Shinde said that the Mahayuti alliance’s chief ministerial candidate will be decided on Monday and reiterated that he has already given his “unconditional support” to the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda.
