A 20-year-old National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant has committed suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district. His family members have alleged the deceased was under severe pressure after the announcement of NEET exam cancellation over paper leak reports.

The deceased, Ritivik Mishra, had appeared for his third NEET attempt on May 3, which had been cancelled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after allegations of irregularities.

Mishra was reportedly found hanging on the ceiling of his room at residence in Gangotrinagar locality of Lakhimpur on Thursday morning.

He had returned to Lakhimpur from his village on Wednesday, when he did not open his room on Thursday, his family and police were alerted by the neighbours.

Following the incident, police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. No suicide note has been recovered yet, as per reports.

The father alleged that Mishra was confident about clearing the NEET this time, on his third attempt. However, the cancellation of the exam put him under severe mental pressure.
