UP man arrested for allegedly beating 12-year-old daughter to death over candy theft

Uttar Pradesh Police have reportedly arrested a man for allegedly killing his 12-year-old daughter after accusing her of stealing a packet of candy from a local grocery store.

The incident reportedly came to light after the girl’s mother, Aarti, filed a complaint on March 27 in Ratanpur village. In her statement, she alleged that her husband, Pushpendra alias Pappu Sharma, assaulted their daughter with a stick, resulting in her death.

According to reports, the accused became furious after a shopkeeper informed him that the child had taken a packet of candy without paying.

An FIR was registered at Narora police station, and the accused was taken into custody on Sunday. Officials also confirmed that the stick allegedly used in the assault has been recovered based on information provided by the accused.

Police said further investigation into the case is ongoing.
