A woman employee at Foxconn has been taken into custody after allegedly killing her newborn and disposing of the body inside a toilet at the company’s manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, police said.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Renuka, is suspected to have committed the act out of fear of social stigma. The incident occurred at Foxconn’s large unit in Devanahalli, which employs around 25,000 workers.

The matter came to light when another employee discovered the infant’s body in a dustbin inside the women’s restroom. Officials said the newborn was found wrapped in a black garbage bag, prompting immediate alerts to the company management and local authorities.

Following the discovery, Foxconn management informed the police, and a complaint was filed by a company engineer. Law enforcement officials registered a case at the Vishwanathapura Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police confirmed that the accused has been admitted to a hospital and remains under custody. Further investigation is ongoing to establish the sequence of events and circumstances leading to the incident.
