UK announces 3,000 visas to Indians through ballot, entries to close soon

The ‘India Young Professionals Scheme’ was announced by the UK government today, offering a random ballot for Indian graduates to work and study in the UK for up to two years.
There are 3,000 places available for the scheme under the 2024 programme. The UK government website stated that most places will be available in February, the upcoming ballot and the remaining places will be filled in the July ballot.
The deadline to apply for the ballot is Feb 22 till 2.30 p.m. IST.
"The successful entries will be picked at random," stated the UK government website.
The successful entries will be informed by email within two weeks of the closing of the ballot, and the selected candidates will have a window of 90 days to apply for the visa online, according to the website.
Entry to the ballot is free. However, if chosen, the candidate will have to pay the visa application fee of £298 (~₹31,170).
