Two Udupi shipyard workers held for allegedly leaking sensitive data to Pakistan

Police in Karnataka have detained two contract workers from a shipyard in Udupi for allegedly supplying confidential information to handlers in Pakistan for nearly a year and a half, raising a significant security alarm along the coast.
According to reports, the suspects Rohit and Santhri, both from Uttar Pradesh were employed at the Malpe unit of Cochin Shipyard through Sushma Marine Pvt Ltd. Officials say the pair is accused of passing on restricted technical details about vessels being built for the Indian Navy as well as private companies.
Investigators believe the information was transmitted over WhatsApp in return for payment. The matter reportedly came to light after the Cochin Shipyard CEO filed a complaint, leading police to trace and apprehend the two men. They have since been remanded to judicial custody.
Authorities say the leaked material has the potential to harm national security, and central intelligence agencies are expected to join the investigation. Officials suspect that the two accused may have been part of a larger network, though confirmation is awaited as the probe continues.
