Two Arrested for Ludhiana Property Dealer’s Murder as 9mm Glock Recovered

Two suspects wanted in connection with the murder of a local property dealer in Ludhiana have been arrested in a joint operation by the Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed on Tuesday that officers seized a 9mm Glock pistol alongside one live cartridge during the raid. The detained individuals have been identified as Manjit Singh, alias Bobby, and Mohit Kumar, both residents of Chanderlok Colony in Ludhiana.

Deadly Ambush in Swatantra Nagar

The fatal incident occurred on 7 August in the Swatantra Nagar area of Ludhiana. The victim, Harjinder Singh, was targeted by a group of assailants armed with firearms and sharp weapons, sustaining injuries that led to his death.

According to preliminary police findings, the assault was calculated and violent:

• The ambush took place in broad daylight in the Swatantra Nagar locality.
• Assailants utilized a combination of sharp-edged weapons and handguns during the attack.
• Victim Harjinder Singh suffered multiple critical injuries on the scene.
• Lead suspect Manjit Singh "Bobby" reportedly managed a local gang operating across Ludhiana city.
• Singh has a recorded criminal past involving charges of attempted murder and violations under the NDPS Act.
• The seized 9mm Glock pistol is currently undergoing forensic evaluation to confirm if it matches the round fired on 7 August.

Technical Intelligence Pinpoints Suspects

Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Promod Ban stated that the break in the case came from human intelligence. Once actionable insights regarding the duo's location were received, the AGTF’s technical cell tracked their movements in real-time.

Equipped with precise tracking data, an AGTF unit under Inspector Vikramjeet Singh coordinated with the local Commissionerate Police to intercept the suspects in the Tibba area, taking both into custody without further incident.

Manhunt Continues for Remaining Accomplices

Ludhiana Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma confirmed that law enforcement has identified the remaining co-conspirators involved in the fatal attack. Multiple search teams have been deployed across the region to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

A formal First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) specifically Sections 103 (murder), 324(4), 307 (attempted murder), 191(3), and 190 alongside Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Further investigations remain ongoing.
