Twist in Kochi Assault Case: Doctor Allegedly Thrashed by Actors Accused of Sexual Assault After Woman Files Complaint

A rape case has been registered against a 41-year-old doctor in Kochi, days after he accused a group of people, including two Malayalam film personalities, of assaulting and robbing him at an apartment.

The fresh case was registered by Infopark Police following a complaint by a woman in her early 50s, who is a relative of one of the arrested actors. She has accused the doctor of drugging and sexually assaulting her at a hotel room last month.

The development has added a new dimension to the ongoing investigation, with police now examining allegations made by both sides.

Doctor Had Accused Actors of Assault and Robbery

The original incident took place on November 2 at an apartment in the Essen Springdale complex in Kochi's Vyttila area.

According to the doctor's complaint, he was called to the apartment by actor Athulya Chandra on the pretext that one of her relatives required urgent medical attention.

However, upon reaching the flat, he allegedly found around 12 people waiting for him. They accused him of sexually assaulting a woman and allegedly tied him to a chair, beat him and threatened him.

The doctor also alleged that his two mobile phones, smartwatch and wireless earphones, collectively worth around ₹3.25 lakh, were stolen.

Two Actors Among Three Arrested

Police arrested Malayalam actors Athulya Chandra, 32, and Bibin Perumpilly, 43, along with K B Vishnu, 31, in connection with the alleged assault and robbery.

The FIR registered on November 4 named 12 accused. Police are searching for the remaining suspects.

Woman Hands Over Phone With Alleged Evidence

In the latest development, the woman who filed the complaint against the doctor reportedly handed over a mobile phone containing alleged objectionable footage to the police.

She claimed that the doctor had drugged and sexually assaulted her in a hotel room last month.

Police have registered a separate rape case against the doctor at Infopark Police Station. He has not yet been arrested in connection with the fresh complaint.

Investigators are now examining the allegations and evidence in both cases to establish what transpired between the doctor, the woman and the arrested film personalities.
