Tribal leader Vishnu Deo Sai appointed as chief minister of Chhattisgarh
Sai will succeed Bhupesh Baghel of Congress, who was CM since 2018

After days of suspense, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed the name of Chhattisgarh’s chief minister- Vishnu Deo Sai.
The state’s official X account announced the appointment of Chhatisgarh’s new CM in a tweet.
The announcement came after a key meeting of the BJP’s newly-elected 54 MLAs in the state of Raipur, which was held today at 2 p.m.
The meeting was held in the presence of observers appointed by the central leadership of the BJP, including union minister Arjun Munda, Sarbananda Sonowal, and the party’s national general secretary, Dushyant Kumar Gautam.
The BJP contested the recently concluded Chhattisgarh Assembly polls without declaring any CM faces and won a landslide victory, securing 54 out of the total 90 seats.
The state has an incumbent Congress government, formed in 2018, while the BJP won the 2013 elections.
Bhupesh Baghel, former chief minister of Chhattisgarh congratulated Sai on X after being chosen for the CM post.
Who is Chattisgarh’s new CM?
Vishnu Deo Sai, a tribal leader and former union minister, becomes the chief minister of Chhattisgarh today.
Sai is among the most senior tribal leaders in Chhattisgarh, hailing from the Gond community in the Surguja tribal belt in north Chhattisgarh.
Representing his constituency of Kunkuri, Sai won a total of 87,640 votes in the recent Assembly election.
He has held various offices, including union minister of state for steel in 2014 and member of parliament for the Raigarh constituency of Chhattisgarh in the 16th Lok Sabha in 2019.
He also served as state president of the BJP for Chhattisgarh from 2020 until 2022.
